Anse Chastanet- for romance and activities

Beach at Anse Chastanet

Anse Chastanet is unique- from the gorgeous hillside setting to the Caribbean décor.  This resort is not like any other resort you are likely to visit.  It also may not be the right resort for you.  Built into the cliffside, there are about 100 steps from beach to the middle of the hillside.  There are 49 rooms, 12 of them at beach level and the other 37 wrap up the hillside, tucked into the lush tropical gardens.   The rooms take full advantage of the views and the best rooms in the resort, the premium rooms, have fabulous views of the pitons.

Anse Chastanet might be considered rustic.  There are no TV’s, no radios and no telephones.  While there is wireless internet access in the bar and reception area, this is not a resort for someone who MUST be connected to the world.  Instead of the nightly news, you’ll watch the nightly sunset.  Instead of playing internet games, you’ll be swimming in one of their 2 gorgeous beaches.  Instead of your morning workout in the gym, you can take a morning walk on the beach or join the yoga classes offered.  Instead of being glued to your smart phone, you’re going to be biking, snorkeling in one of 2 crystal clear bays which are designated as protected marine reserves, hiking and more.   You can meet new friends in the bar or on the beach or you can just enjoy each other.

Premium room

The rooms are large and spacious but each one is very different.  There are 4 air conditioned rooms so if you must have air conditioning, you’ll need to get one of the beachside deluxe rooms.  None of the others have air conditioning.  Many are open to the outdoors, with one wall completely open or have huge balconies and decks.  The décor is all unique, kind on in an Andy Warhol kind of way- with bright Saint Lucian print bedspreads and fabrics, to the art work on the walls.  The room we got to view probably had one of the best views.  It was #7F- the Royal Palm (each room has a name).

View of the pitons from the Royal Palm room

It was one of the premium rooms located high into hillside and the views of the pitons and the ocean were just amazing from the huge open air balcony.  The bed was draped with mosquito netting although I didn’t notice a single mosquito.  (Trust me, if there were any, they would have found me).  The bathroom was huge and the room itself was absolutely enormous and very, very private.

The hillside deluxe and the superior rooms are further down the hillside but can still have spectacular views.  Not all are as open to the outdoors and some of the others so if there is a particular room that you want, we will try to request it for you.

This is primarily an adult only property although they will accept kids over 10.

Treehouse restaurant

There are 2 restaurants, the Treehouse restaurant, which was recently redone and the beachside restaurant.  The Treehouse is closed on Tuesday and that is the night that the resort has a great Caribbean barbeque on the beach at the beachside restaurant.

Talking about the beach, the resort has a nice beachside feature— if you want beachside bar service, just put up your yellow flag and one of the waiters will be right over to take your order.

There is no pool at this resort, no fitness center and no huge nightclub.  The spa, the Kai Belte Spa, is shared with the guests of Jade Mountain (although those guests can get in suite spa treatments) and is at beach level.

Spa

It provides a nice selection of spa treatments, including couples massages.  One of the nice features of the Total Romance package is that a one hour massage is included with the amenities.  While there is no gym or fitness center, a fitness instructor offers a daily fitness program, including a jump start beach circuit training, fitness interval trail run and fitness classes.  Yoga classes are offered twice a day for beginners and experienced participants alike.

In the evening the main bar is the meeting place with nightly music.  If you are looking for cruise ship entertainment, you won’t find it here.  This resort is quiet- no casinos, no games, no evening shows.

Main Bar
