Are you a golfer?  To be honest, the closest that My Vacation Lady has come to a golf course has been mini golf or a driving range, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t help you plan your vacation or honeymoon to the Caribbean where you can play a few rounds.

So which are some of the best islands in the Caribbean for golf?

Barbados: According to Fodor’s Travel Guide, Barbados has some of the best championship courses in the Caribbean.   There are 3 courses at the premier resort, Sandy Lane, including the Country Club Course and the Green Monkey Course both designed by Tom Fazio, as well as others around the island designed by Ron Kirby and Robert Trent Jones, Jr.

Bermuda:  Not necessarily in the Caribbean but Bermuda is a golfer’s dream.  With ocean view holes at Port Royal (with possibly the most famous par 3 hole in Bermuda where the hazard is the Atlantic Ocean), Belmont Hills, Tucker’s Point, Riddle’s Bay and more, remember to bring your Bermuda shorts with you.

Dominican Republic: With 26 golf courses to choose from, the Dominican Republic is becoming the premier golf destination of the Caribbean.  One of the top courses in the Caribbean is Casa de Campo in La Romana.  Teeth of the Dog golf course was designed by Pete Dye.  Jack Nicklaus designed Eden Roc which opened a few years ago in Cap Cana.

Jamaica: With more championship golf courses than any other island, it won’t be difficult to find a course to play a round or 2 of golf in Jamaica.  Half Moon Golf Course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr and is one of the signature courses in the Montego Bay area.  In addition, there is also the White Witch course in Rose Hall, Hilton Rose Hall course in Montego Bay, Sandals Golf and Country Club in Ocho Rios, as well as a few others.

Kitts & Nevis: St. Kitts & Nevis’ boast 3 golf courses – a splendid 18-hole championship course and a 9-hole course on St. Kitts.  Don’t miss the Robert Trent Jones II’s stunning course at the Four Seasons Nevis with several ocean side holes and one with some phenomenal views of Nevis Peak.

Puerto Rico: Puerto Rico has a wide range of courses.  There are 3 courses at the Dorado Beach, a Ritz Carlton Reserve including the East Course which was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and recently renovated by his son.  The Arthur Hills course at the El Conquistador resort is one of the hilliest with views of El Yunque rain forest and the ocean.
