I just got back from a travel agent trip to Tahiti and all I can say is WOW.
Tahiti is one of the most romantic destinations so it’s perfect for honeymooners. I’ll be writing a lot more in future blog posts about the hotels we visited and the activities we did but in the meantime, this may help convince you that the South Pacific makes a great honeymoon destination.

Secluded tropical islands surrounded by tranquil lagoons provide the idyllic location for a romantic getaway. In the South Pacific there are many wonderful places, perfect for your next romantic escape.
Overwater Bungalows, French Polynesia — A top choice of celebrities, your thatched bungalow has all the amenities you could desire for a sybaritic, Polynesian retreat. Luxurious, overwater bungalows let you watch colorful fish as they swim in the lagoon below. Swim or snorkel in the clear water right from your private deck. Relax on your terrace and enjoy a tropical breakfast delivered by outrigger canoe. Living on the water is peaceful – a magical place for any honeymoon or romantic getaway.
Private Island Resorts, Fiji — Imagine a unique resort on your own private island! Your package comes complete with a picnic for two at a secluded beach, a couples’ massage at the spa, breakfast in bed one morning and a bottle of sparkling wine. The untouched beauty of Fiji’s out islands beckons for an unsurpassed romantic vacation.
Beachfront Suites, Cook Islands — The crystal-clear, turquoise water of Aitutaki’s lagoon surrounds your well-appointed boutique hotel. From your split level villa, meander down the staircase to a sandy beach. Indulge in the spa, scuba dive or snorkel the reef, take a lagoon cruise and enjoy a cultural program that introduces you to the Polynesian culture of these islands. Enjoy performances by Cook Island entertainers in the dining room at night.
South Pacific Cruising — The romance of being at sea can never be overestimated and cruise lines pull out all the stops to make your romantic vacation even more special. Apart from an itinerary that will wow you as you call at the islands of the South Pacific, aboard ship you’ll be pampered with fine cuisine and luxurious accommodation. Romance packages featuring champagne, portraits by the on board photographer, flowers and pre-dinner canapés add to the special occasion.
Sounds inviting doesn’t it? Retreat to the South Pacific for a romantic getaway you won’t soon forget.
What makes the South Pacific a great place to honeymoon?
These islands are beautiful and largely untouched with pristine beaches and each offer as little or as much activity as you might want.
When is the best time to travel to the South Pacific?
The South Pacific Islands have great weather year round. There is a dry season from May to October where it becomes a bit cooler and less humid. The trade winds pick up during the dry season and the tropical weather is warm and comfortable. The wet season in the South Pacific is from November to April where the humidity increases and rain showers are common and this is also the time when you’ll get the lowest rates.
This is something to think about. According to Lodi Francis, South Pacific Specialist of Islands in the Sun
It is important to consider what area of an island you will be on. Trade winds blow most often from the east making eastern areas more prone to rain and heavier gusts. Whenever you decide to visit the Pacific Islands you are sure to enjoy the wonderful sunshine and the beautiful landscapes during any season.
