Where to go for a Zika Free Honeymoon- Part 2

As we said last week, it’s on the news almost daily with scary reports of the Zika virus and how you shouldn’t travel to destinations with the virus if you are pregnant or planning on becoming pregnant.  As Honeymoon Specialists, My Vacation Lady works with many couples who are questioning where they can go where it is SAFE.  Short of going on a honeymoon wearing long pants, shoes, socks, long sleeve shirts and a mosquito netting hat, there are still many destinations that are zika free.

As we have said before, we are not doctors and we strongly suggest you talk to your physicians if you are pregnant or trying to become pregnant.

Where are we sending our honeymoon couples to, if they are concerned about the Zika Virus?

St Regis Bora Bora-view from OTW bungalowFrench Polynesia– otherwise known as Tahiti or the Tahitian islands, French Polynesia is the epitome of romance.  Crystal clear seas, over water bungalows, pristine natural beauty, great food and great weather, Tahiti is one of the top honeymoon destinations.  8 hours from Los Angeles, it is a bit of a hike for many of our East Coast clients but that is part of what makes is to special.  It’s not a destination that most of our honeymooners will go to on a regular basis and it’s going to be pretty pricey but oh, is it worth it!

Italy– always one of the top honeymoon destinations in Europe.  Italy is full of rich history, exquisite cuisine, luxury accommodations, and an Old World flavor that can’t be matched anywhere else in the world. It is made for lovers!  Most of our honeymooners will try to stay in the Tuscany region for the wineries, food and scenery and in the Amalfi Coast for the rugged shoreline dotted with lovely little beaches and quaint towns.

Greece– What could be more romantic than the whitewashed buildings built into the cliffs of the Greek Islands.  The romance of the Greek Islands is also the perfect reason that Greece makes a great honeymoon destination.  Most of our honeymooners will do some island hopping and their last island is usually Santorini for the beautiful views and fabulous sunsets.

Spain and the Canary Islands– Our October honeymooners, Cathy and Mike are looking to start a family right away and wanted to avoid any destination with the potential of Zika but they also wanted a beach component in their honeymoon so we designed a honeymoon to include the Canary Islands for them.  They are flying into Madrid and will be spending some time in Seville (where they’ll enjoy a tour of some of the great Tapas restaurants, and taking an excursion to Cordoba).  From Seville, they are flying to the Canary Islands for 4 nights of fun in the sun, beaches and great food.  After soaking up the sun, they’ll head back to Barcelona to enjoy some wine tasting, a flamenco show and some sight seeing.

The South Pacific–Emily and Chris are traveling in September and are combining New Zealand with the Cook Islands  for adventure, adventure wineries and more adventure in both the North and South Islands before heading to the Cook Islands for a few days of relaxing on the pure white sand.

It’s a big world out there and there are still many great options for Zika Free honeymoons.  My Vacation Lady is the top rated honeymoon specialist located in New Jersey according to the couples on both Wedding Wire and the Knot.  We’ll help you create your honeymoon experience to match your dreams and budget.
