mahaulepu_trail-walk on coast-reducedBy now, you should all know that Hawaii is My Vacation Lady’s happy place.  We would live there if we could.

If you like to explore natural beauty, the Hawaiian Islands are amazing and one of the best ways to really appreciate the beauty of Hawaii’s interior, take a walk along some of the hiking trails.

We aren’t talking hiking boots and walking sticks for all of the hikes (although they can help on many trails) but we’ve done some of these and we  are not big hikers.  The picture to the left was taken in Kauai along the Maha’ulepu Heritage Trail, just steps from the Grand Hyatt Kauai.  As you can see, it’s a nice level (in most spots) trail with some amazing views of the south side of Kauai.  This nice little hike didn’t make the list of favorites from Hawaii Magazine but it’s one we recommend to a lot of our clients who are looking for a nice easy hike with some great views.

When Hawaii Magazine asked it’s Facebook fans to vote for their favorite hiking trails in Hawaii a couple of years ago, these were the ones that made the list:

  • Kilauea Iki Trail  in Hawaii Volcanos National Park, Hawaii Island
  • Manoa Falls Trail in Oahu
  • Diamond Head Crater Summit Trail- just outside of Waikiki
  • Pipiwai Trail – Maui off the Road to Hana and leading to the Waimoku Falls
  • Kalalau Trail – NaPali Coast, Kauai

From the top of Diamond Head

Now some of these are really popular and some (like Diamond Head) might be considered pretty touristy but they still offer amazing views.  There are hiking trails for every activity level so our best advise is to check out hiking on the Hawaii Tourism Website
