Recently, clients of My Vacation Lady booked their honeymoon to Hawaii. When we were talking about the room category that were available, they told us:
We heard from one of our friends who recently went on their honeymoon to Hawaii, that they booked the Four Seasons Maui at the cheapest room, and then were able to call them and get a complimentary upgrade to a suite, and they made it seem like this was fairly common, because people always book the cheapest room, and the hotel overbooks those rooms.
Our Four Seasons’ Sales contact advised us:
to book the room your clients wish to end up in so that they are not disappointed. Although we try very hard to upgrade our guests, there are times that high occupancy levels does not allow us to do so.
Our Marriott Sales contact recommended:
The most one can expect is the best room available in the category booked or a possible one category upgrade based on availability at time of check in!
We will contact the hotel on your behalf and request any complimentary upgrades but even with our best contacts, upgrades can’t be guaranteed. Chances of a complimentary upgrade from the entry level room to a suite is like winning the lottery. I hope my client’s friends bought some tickets after that upgrade.
