What is average?

At the offices of  My Vacation Lady, no honeymoon is average.  Everyone is designed to meet our client’s dreams and budgets.  We can tell you that most of our clients will spend at least a week in their honeymoon destination and more if the location is further away.  Ten – 12 nights may be our clients’ typical Hawaii, South Pacific or European honeymoon but that doesn’t mean you can’t spend more of less time in these destinations.

You can speak to multiple honeymoon specialists from different parts of the country and each one will tell you where their top honeymoon destination is and what the average price is- but again- how does that compare to what you want?

Last week’s #Wedding Wednesday blog post suggested checking the price of airfare to get a first glimpse of how to plan a realistic honeymoon budget.

Tip #2

Make sure you include all the components:

  1. airfare + luggage fees
  2. airport transfers or car rental
  3. hotel + taxes + resort fees
  4. food  and beverages
  5. excursions
  6. romantic splurge (like a romantic dinner on the beach)
  7. travel insurance

Other things that you’ll want to keep in the back of your mind:

  1. transportation from home to the  airport and back
  2. luggage
  3. spending money on the honeymoon
  4. clothes you might need
According to  Carley Roney, editor in chief of The Knot Inc. “In fact, 3 in 5 couples are booking extras on their honeymoon, and 25% spent more than they had originally budgeted.”

Stay tuned.  In the next couple of weeks, My Vacation Lady will touch on some more tips on how to figure out how to plan a realistic honeymoon budget.
