This 15 mile stretch of ragged coastline of Kauai literally means “the Cliffs”  and  you can’t see it driving around the island.

On one of our vacations in Kauai, we stopped at Ke’e Beach on the North Shore and saw many hikers returning from their hikes along the trail saddling the Napali Coast.  For the adventurous hiker, the Kalalua Trail is a very strenuous trail that starts at Ke’e Beach and ends in the Kalalua Valley.  The entire hike is 11 miles.  It’s challenging enough to be rated a 9 out of 10 in degrees of difficulty by the Sierra Club.

Did the hikers that we saw do all 11 miles or did they do the most popular trail—go 2 miles to Hanakāpi’ai Beach?  Did they get to the waterfall at 4 miles into the trail?  The views are spectacular regardless but the best way to see the Napali Coastline is by boat or from the air.

Napali Coast from the Helicopter

My Vacation Lady can include a catamaran sunset cruise to the Napali Coast, a snorkel tour to the Napali Coast or a helicopter excursion in your Kauai honeymoon or vacation package.  We took a helicopter tour of Kauai in December 2019 and it was spectacular.  If you can, go for the front row seating- it’s worth the extra money!

This is what Joe and Amanda saw during their snorkeling expedition to the Napali Coast

Just the sheer beauty of this area is worth the trip.

If you aren’t up to the 11 mile hike, consider the helicopter tour or snorkel or catamaran tour.  You’ll be glad you did.
