Honeymoons can be expensive and for some couples, after paying for their wedding and other expenses, they don’t necessarily have a ton of money to spend on their honeymoon.

Budget doesn’t mean your honeymoon can’t be wonderful.  My Vacation Lady is a top rated honeymoon specialist located in New Jersey according to the couples on both Wedding Wire and the Knot and we have been known to help our clients maximize their honeymoon budgets.

While we aren’t magicians and while we don’t make up pricing, we do have some ideas to help you stretch your honeymoon budget.

Here are 5 tips on how to make your honeymoon $$ go further:

Consider a honeymoon registry

With so many of our couples living together or merging house holds, how many more sets of sheets and knife sets do you need.  By opening a honeymoon registry , you can register for experiences rather than another Keurig coffee maker.

Take a mini moon

There is no hard and fast rule that your honeymoon  has to be long or exotic.  If you are short on funds, take a fabulous shorter mini-moon and plan to take a longer first year anniversary vacation.  You can take a long weekend in Bermuda for a beach mini moon.  You can head to Quebec for a European feeling honeymoon while staying in North America.  Charleston and Savannah are neat Southern cities that are romantic and fun.  We can think of many more destinations for a mini moon.

Go All Inclusive

All inclusive resorts are very cost effective, since your meals and drinks are included.  At some all inclusive resorts you’ll also get non motorized water sports, daytime and evening entertainment and more.  Keep in mind that not all all inclusive resorts are created equally and adult only all inclusive resorts tend to be a bit pricier.  We can certainly guide you in the ones that might be best for your honeymoon.

Travel during the off season

If you aren’t 100% set on leaving for your honeymoon immediately after your wedding, you may be able to get a better price by waiting and traveling during a lower season.   Prices in the Caribbean and Mexico will peak between Christmas and Easter so by waiting until late April or early May, you may be able to safe a good amount.  By traveling to Europe in the winter, spring or fall, prices will be considerably less than traveling in the summer.  No one says that you have to take your honeymoon right after the wedding and this is a great way of getting the most bang for your honeymoon budget.

Plan a elopement or destination wedding and combine your wedding and honeymoon in one!

We have recently been getting more and more calls for elopement vacations.  With big weddings being limited in size by Covid restrictions, the idea of eloping and staying in the same location for the honeymoon is sounding more appealing,

Many of our clients come to us with a pre-conceived idea of what their honeymoon dreams are but their budget doesn’t always live up to the dream.  We have many couples that may want a 10 night honeymoon but instead, will go for 7 or 8 nights in order to get the destination and resort that they want, and still stay on budget.

My Vacation Lady  won’t be the first to tell you that your honeymoon should be special, but we are the right honeymoon specialists to make your honeymoon special.
