We tried something in December that we haven’t used before.
My Vacation Lady recommends it to all of our clients but we hadn’t been to Jamaica in years so we thought we should practice what we preach. We did the Club Mobay Arrival VIP service and the Departure Lounge
I can’t remember the price (and I know it is going up for 2024) but let me tell you how worth it we felt it was.
We were greeted once we got off the plane with a young lady holding a sign with our names on it. Everyone else was just trying to figure out where to go, while we were whisked to the kiosks to make sure our online forms were attached to our passports. Honestly, some of the passengers on our flight had no clue that they needed to even fill out any online form and were trying to do it in the airport.
So Jamaica started this new online Tourist Authorization form in September 2023, called the C5 form. Not a big deal at all but when you arrive in the airport, you need to scan you passport at a kiosk before heading to passport control and the baggage carousel.
Our Club Mobay rep did all the scanning for us. Honestly, I don’t remember what she did but we got our pictures printed out and we were on to passport control. Most of the passengers on the flight was still wandering around trying to figure out what to do.
From passport control, which took less than 1 minute, we were on to the baggage carousel.
That took a bit and after we got our luggage, we zipped through immigration on a VIP line and we were escorted to our private transfer. We could have stopped off in the lounge, but we really just wanted to get to the hotel.
All in all, our flight landed at 12:30pm and we were at our resort (the Iberostar Grand Rose Hall) by 1:30pm.
Airport to beach in about an hour!
On our return to the airport, we checked our luggage, went through their version of TSA and followed the signs to the Club Mobay departure lounge. Comfy chairs, food, drinks, huge clean bathrooms and free wifi. What more could you want? We had some food, drinks and relaxed in comfort while the majority of the passengers sat in the uncomfortable airport chairs until the flight was departing. We felt like royalty– like we bought first class airline tickets instead of coach.
When chatting with other guests at our hotel who didn’t use private transfers or Club Mobay, their time from getting off the flight to the hotel took 4 hours.
Trust me— the VIP service isn’t that much more and is worth 4 hours of your time.
