It’s the end of November and you may not have used all of your vacation days for this year.  Especially with the covid pandemic, many of us haven’t taken an actual vacation this year at all.

As unbelievable as it may sound for a travel advisor, the last time we were on vacation was exactly 1 year ago when we spent 2 weeks in Hawaii.  So if you are like us, you may have a block of vacation days to use-it-or-lose-it.  If you are lucky, you’ll have a few months in 2021 to use your leftover vacation days.

Here are some ideas on how to use those left over vacation days.

  • PLAN EARLY

While there may be availability for Christmas/New Year’s week at some destinations, planning earlier is always better.   There is usually better availability and pricing if you book earlier rather than later.

  • PUT SOMEONE IN CHARGE OF VACATION PLANNING

If you are not the kind of person who is good at making plans, put another family member in charge of getting vacation plans in order.  After talking about your budget and dreams, have 1 designated person get the ball rolling and book your vacation.

  • BREAK UP YOUR VACATION TIME INTO A LONGER VACATION AND THEN SOME LONG WEEKENDS

If you don’t think you can afford more than 1 major vacation a year, lock in the time for your longer vacation and then schedule time off around some longer weekends.  Taking a few Fridays-Mondays off and doing some fun stuff locally doesn’t have to cost a lot but can also help you rejuvenate a bit.

  • DON’T GO IT ALONE
